TEA Party Express Issues

Extending Unemployment Benefits – The President continues
to promote government dependence by unreasonably extending
unemployment benefits. These benefits are designed to be
temporary, not extended for years. The federal government
is already greatly over-spending and cannot afford to extend
unemployment benefits, which deter individuals from seeking
employment opportunities. WE MUST STOP NEW SPENDING NOW!

Big Spending Continuing Resolution Eyed for December 16th
Because of the irresponsibility of the President in
presenting a budget and the failure of the Democrat-controlled
Senate to adopt a budget, we are consigned to passing
continuing resolutions to avoid a government shutdown.
Republicans should be leading the fight to eliminate
unnecessary spending and duplicative, wasteful government
programs. Show America that you will not allow the Democrats
to bully you into continuing the national spending spree! WE
MUST CUT WASTEFUL SPENDING NOW!

Obama's Plan for Student Debt

The Federal Government Department of Education
subsidized student loans before 2008. This can be seen
clearly by viewing a chart of First Marblehead, FMD. At
the end of 2006, FMD's stock price was about $57/share.
By the end of 2007, the stock price was less than
$20/share. Today the stock price is only $1.11/share.
The main reason for the decrease is that Congress cut
subsidies to lenders and finally took over the student
loan business entirely.
Obama's new plan is to forgive loans after 25 years.
This unfunded liability can be at considerable cost to
taxpayers. It would be easy to make minimum payments for
25 years and then owe nothing. Taxpayers would then owe
the compounded interest. The average student debt of 2010
graduates is over $25,000.
A 66-year-old woman called a radio financial advice
program saying that she went back to college in her 50s
and had finished with student loan debt of about $40,000.
At 66 she and her husband – both now on Social Security -
had paid over $43,000 back but still owed over $33,000.

November 23 and the Mini-Congress

Congress is supposedly a meeting of the people's
representatives to manage the Constitutional requirements
of the people. Con- means to defraud, dupe or swindle,
so what we actually have is a meeting to illegally defraud,
dupe or swindle the people who pay the taxes which fund
the government.
Consider the fact that the Federal government is not
operating with a budget passed by the Congress but with a
continuing resolution (CR). The “cuts” to induce passing
the CRs were mostly non-recurring costs like the 2010
Census. Consider the raising of the debt ceiling. The
ceiling was raised with the promise of spending cuts to
be determined by a mini-Congress of 12. The Democrats are
trying to get the Republicans to raise revenue by
eliminating tax loopholes. This is a distraction. The
pea in this shell game is spending cuts. The automatic
spending cuts when the mini-Congress fails will be small
($130B) in comparison to the yearly deficits ($1700B) over
each of the 10 years. Ten years later we will have an
additional $15,700B in debt to the $15,000B that we currently
have. This is in addition to what unfunded liabilities add
to the real debt. Total debt is over $120,000B.
The above is the result of 2012 being an election year.
The largest impact of the 2010 Obamacare law will not take
effect until after the 2012 election. The automatic cuts
will seriously affect defense and Democrat-hated programs.
The growing economy will increase revenues, the government
will borrow up to the new debt limit, and the Federal Reserve
will illegally monetize the debt. This will get us to 2013.
If Republicans win the House, Senate and Presidency, then the
hole will be deeper at that point and will be painful to get out
of. Republicans will be blamed by the liberal media.

Federal Spending is UP!

Despite all of the rhetoric coming out of Washington
about cutting federal spending and living within our
means, the numbers don't lie. According to the recently
released numbers by the Congressional Budget Office, our
Federal Government spending was up 5% in 2011 over what
we spent in 2010. This marks the largest year of budget
expenditures in our nation's history.
The Federal government spent an alarming $3.6 trillion
dollars in 2011, more than the previous year and even
more than 2009 when President Obama pushed his failed
Stimulus package through an attempt to spend us out of
a recession.

Taxpayers Supporting Obama Campaign?

Tom Carnahan gets money from Obama for a fake solar company
and then hosts a fundraiser for Obama? So that’s taxpayer
money that Tom Carnahan got — that’s your and my money that
Obama’s giving away in loan guarantees — to a fake solar firm,
then he heads into St. Louis for a $25,000-a-plate fundraiser.
He’s getting the money back. So what Obama has done, and
numerous times, is generate campaign contributions that are
taxpayer dollars.

The Great Republican Sellout of 2011

In the November 2010 election, many conservatives were
elected to Congress. One of the key promises of these
was their Pledge to America. One promise was a $100B
spending cut. This was done with H.R. 1 but was not
considered by the Senate.
For years the Federal Government is being run on a
series of Continuing Resolutions. Because all
appropriations bills must originate in the House of
Representatives, the 2011 Republican-majority House had
a golden opportunity to force the Federal government to
cut profligate spending. Each time the President and the
Senate allowed a “crisis” to occur before a “compromise”
was passed. The spring compromise resulted in spending
“cuts” of only $35B. Most of these were non-recurring
costs like the Census, so the real cuts were about $352M
from a budget of $3,800,000M. Conservatives were sold
out by Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Cantor.
Another golden opportunity for real cuts was the
“requirement” to raise the debt ceiling. This need was
again allowed to escalate to a “crisis”, and the credit
rating of the United States of America received a negative
warning and then a downgrade. Conservatives were again
sold out by Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Cantor.
An immediate increase to debt ceiling of $1T was countered
with “promises to cut spending” to be determined later
(after Thanksgiving) by a “super-committee.”
The President had already formed the 2010 National
Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform
which
published their extensive report in December 2010. Few if
any recommendations from the 8-month study have been
implemented.
Since Congress has failed again to agree on a budget,
another Continuing Resolution has now been passed to fund
the Federal Government into FY2012. No meaningful spending
cuts were made. The House of Representatives vote was a
voice vote. Conservatives were again sold out by Speaker
Boehner and Majority Leader Cantor.

Dr Broun on Obama's American Jobs Act

Last week, the President presented his American Jobs Act –
which analysis reveals to be a $447 billion Stimulus II.
While it includes some tax relief that I support, for job
creators and for the middle class, it is unfortunately
composed largely of the same temporary gimmicks and more
fundamentally flawed federal spending programs from
Stimulus I.

His plan is a mixed bag of failed worn-out ideas. And it
gets worse. This time he is including tax increases that
members of both parties agree are a bad idea. The President
paints them not as the economic poison they are, but as
class warfare against “millionaires and billionaires.” The
unfortunate reality is that his tax provisions would hit
small businesses and their creators – the backbone of our
economy – the hardest. Even Senate Democrats have conceded
his tax increases are unacceptable.

The free market is the engine that drives economic growth.
Why then does the President insist on the failed notion of
government solutions instead of policies that support
American free enterprise?

Jobs for American Citizens

"There are some seven-million jobs in the United States
that are currently held by illegal aliens," Ira Mehlman
reports. "Most of those jobs could and would be done by
American workers, if his administration would actually
enforce our immigration laws and open up those jobs for
American workers."

We pay American citizens over $360/week each for
unemployment for each of those 7M jobs.

Herman Cain's 9-9-9 Plan

Herman Cain's 9-9-9 plan would change the tax code to a
9% income tax, a 9% corporate tax and a 9% sales tax. He
has stated many times that he favors the Fair Tax, but he
needs to become President in order to sell it to the
American people from the "bully pulpit."

That 9% income tax would be a Steve Forbes-style flat tax.
Preparing taxes would involve a single page for most
taxpayers. The corporate tax reduction from 35% to 9%
would instantly stimulate corporations to hire and give
the U.S. an advantage in the world economy. The 9% sales
tax would transition to the Fair Tax.

I am obviously a Cain supporter and a Fair Tax advocate.
The Fair Tax has been studied for more than 2 decades. It
is a non-regressive consumption tax which replaces all
Federal taxes except the "inflation tax." The 16th
Amendment must be repealed before the tax is implemented.
The prebate makes it non-regressive. The poor and elderly
citizens will pay no tax up to the poverty level. Only
new things are taxed. Our "throw-away economy" idea
becomes less reasonable.

Before you accept sound bites from the ignorant, read the
two books written to explain and defend the Fair Tax.

Teamsters President Declares War!

Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa was in Detroit introducing
President Obama, where he effectively called for a war on
the tea party movement! Hoffa shouted, "We've got to keep
an eye on the battle that we face -- a war on workers. And
you see it everywhere. It is the Tea Party."

Then, Hoffa looked at President Obama and said, "President
Obama, this is your army, we are ready to march…let's take
these sons of bitches out."

Fall Rally 24 September Bobby's BBQ

Just to update everyone - we will have our rally with Daren
Gardener as our keynote speaker at Bobby's Bar-b-que (upstairs)
on September 24th. I have covered the deposit, so we are set.
Sandy and I looked at the room and it should handle our crowd.
They suggested that we tell everyone to eat between 5:30PM and
6:30PM and then go upstairs for the program. We should all get
there by 4:30PM, eat together and then be ready to welcome our
guest. We should start inviting as many like minded people as
we can (at least three or four each). Susan is doing a mailing
and is coordinating with Yvonne Meeks who will write our press
release and get it out to the media. Our next planning meeting
will be September 13th at my house - 881 River Bluff Rd., North
Augusta, SC off of Martintown Road in the Rapids subdivision at
7:00PM. I have also attached a list of current group as info.
I'll be at the beach next week but home on September 12th, call
me if you need me .
Thanks!

United States Postal Service Bailout?

U.S. Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe has said that
the United States Postal Service will default on its
obligations to the federal government on September 30,
at the end of the current fiscal year.

Now the House Committee on Oversight and Government
Reform has launched SavingThePostalService.com to educate
the public about the Postal Service’s financial troubles
and some possible solutions. The Postal Service lost
$8.5 billion in the last fiscal year. It is not clear
what will happen if the Postal Service does default.
Oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, R-CA,
and other committee members have said the result will
likely be a taxpayer bailout.

President's Executive Order to Promote Amnesty.

Since taking office, the President has been an outward
supporter of the Development, Relief, and Education for
Alien Minors (DREAM) Act. Frustrated at Congress'
refusal to pass this legislation, the President took
matters into his own hands. Though I do not, by any
means, agree with amnesty in any form, I am more
disappointed in the President's dismissal of the United
States Constitution. Executive Orders should be only
used when American stability is at risk. I fail to
comprehend how passage of the DREAM Act is a serious
enough matter to completely override how our Founders
desired the Legislative Branch to handle these kinds of
matters.

In a letter to Senator Harry Reid, Homeland Security
Secretary Janet Napolitano stated this Executive Order
would eliminate hundreds of thousands of cases that are
clogging up the courts. She said that this will allow
enforcement agencies to focus on "criminal aliens, those
who pose a threat to public safety and national security,
repeat immigration law violators and other individuals
prioritized for removal."

Significantly Higher Energy Costs

New EPA rules dictate that utility companies will be forced
to spend an initial outlay of $800 million dollars to conform
with the regulations that mandate “harmful” emissions be
reduced under the Clean Air Act.

Groups like the Edison Electric Institute warn that the new
rules eventually “cost utilities up to $129 billion and force
them to retire one-fifth of coal capacity,” prompting a wave
of coal plant shutdowns.

The new rules will exacerbate the problem of rolling blackouts,
warns Donna Nelson, head of the Texas Public Utility Commission.

$8.5M Obamacare for Migrant Workers

After being blasted by the liberal media and targeted
for removal in the 2010 election, Congressman Joe Wilson
has now been vindicated ... to the tune of $8.5 million.
That's not some lawsuit settlement. That's how much money
health care centers servicing migrant farm workers will be
receiving under a new ObamaCare grant.
The Department of Health and Human Services this week has
awarded $8.5 million to 25 clinic operations to "target
services to migrant and seasonal farm workers." The catch:
they're not required to check immigration status, thus sliding
straight through the illegal alien loophole that lead to
Wilson's September 2009 outburst.
A few weeks after his emphatic "You Lie!" comment, Wilson
shared a more-than-rational explanation for his actions.
Numerous health care town hall forums during the August 2009
Congressional recess had been chocked full of constituents who
were outraged with the President's plans to overhaul and
socialize one-sixth of the American economy. On the very day
leading up to the Presidential address, Wilson attended a
Congressional health care hearing that uncovered the very
loophole that has now awarded $8.5 million in coverage for
illegal aliens.
Wilson has repeatedly said, if he had to do it over again,
he would have kept quiet... out of respect for the office and
the setting. But, if he had not called out to President Obama
that night, no one would have remembered Obama's comment and
the fact that he faced a joint session of Congress and the
American people and lied.
Joe Wilson was right!
The President did lie, and now American taxpayers are
spending millions of dollars we can't afford on health care
programs to service people who've chosen to come into our
country illegally.

Lindsay Graham on Debt Deal

I cannot in good conscience support this deal.

Simply stated, it locks us into more debt, bigger government
and most devastating of all, a weakened Defense infrastructure
at a time when threats to our nation are increasing, not
decreasing.

This agreement still adds over $7 trillion in new debt over the
next decade and only makes small reductions in future spending.
We hardly address the future growth of entitlements, a major
contributor of future budgetary problems.

Instead of our nation running toward bankruptcy we will be
walking toward bankruptcy.

The only part of our nation’s budget which is really exposed to
serious consequences is the Department of Defense. Their budget
could be reduced by nearly $1 trillion under this plan. And if
these proposed cuts ever become reality, the biggest loser will
be our men and women in uniform.

I firmly believe defense spending should be placed under a
microscope and we can find savings. However, this agreement
places Defense on the chopping block and slowly moves the
Republican Party away from the Reagan model of a strong national
defense. I fear it legitimizes the concept that Defense spending
is not only equal to other areas of federal spending, but is of
lesser importance.

The U.S. Constitution's preamble is unequivocal where it states
one of the federal government’s primary responsibilities is to
“provide for the common defence.” I fear this deal could
ultimately weaken that principle.

I always believed we have to raise our nation’s debt-ceiling but
should do so in a responsible manner. I strongly supported Cut,
Cap and Balance and will continue to work for passage of a
Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. I thought we
could have raised the debt-ceiling for a period of nine months,
the historical average since 1940, accompanied by a
dollar-to-dollar spending cut to debt-ceiling increase while we
work to enact these important structural changes to the way the
government operates.

The debt-limit debate offered us a prime opportunity to finally
stop kicking the can down the road and bring discipline to the
way Congress spends.

Because of our $14.5 trillion and growing national debt, we are
in jeopardy of losing the American Dream where children are able
to do better than their parents.

Unfortunately, I fear we will see that this agreement does not
really move the needle when it comes to reducing government
spending.

For these reasons, I vote No.

Jim DeMint on Debt Deal

“This debt deal puts America at risk and does nothing to
solve our spending crisis,” said Senator DeMint, “We
haven’t changed direction in Washington. We’re just tapping
the brakes as we speed toward a fiscal cliff.

“The President will now be responsible for nearly $6 trillion
in new debt in just four years in office, more than any other
president before him. The President’s reckless spending
policies have made things worse, leaving our economy in
shambles and Americans with less hope for the future. To grow
the economy, we must stop growing government.

“This bill doesn’t cut the debt; it will add about $7 trillion
in new debt over the next ten years on the backs of our
children and grandchildren. This bill doesn’t stop deficit
spending; it locks in trillion dollar spending deficits for
years to come. This bill doesn’t stop tax hikes; Republicans
and Democrats are already promising to consider job destroying
tax hikes in this new Super Committee. This bill doesn’t
protect our nation; it puts national security at risk with
unbalanced cuts to funding our troops in the field count on.
This bill doesn’t guarantee our AAA rating; it puts it at
further risk as the world sees Washington as incapable of
cutting wasteful spending.”

U.S. Budget and Family Budget

U.S. income: $2,170,000,000,000
Federal budget: $3,820,000,000,000
New debt: $1,650,000,000,000
National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
Recent budget cut: $38,500,000,000 (about 1 percent of
the budget)

Remove 8 zeroes from the above and we have a hypothetical
Jones family budget:

Total annual income for the Jones family: $21,700
Amount of money the Jones family spent: $38,200
Amount of new debt added to the credit card: $16,500
Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
Amount cut from the budget: $385

Joe Wilson to be our new U.S. Representative

Aiken County will no longer be split between two Congressional
Districts. It will be in the 2nd District, the seat now held
by Rep. Joe Wilson (R). The 2nd District becomes more compact
in this plan and covers all of Aiken, Barnwell, Lexington
counties and parts of Richland and Orangeburg.

Governor Haley will sign the Congressional Reapportionment Bill
into law during a ceremony this Monday in Myrtle Beach, the
heart of the new 7th District. But this will not be the end of
the political drama. SC is under the scrutiny of the Voter
Rights Act, therefore the plan must be approved by the U.S.
Justice Department. It is expected that the SC Democrats will
challenge the plan in court.

Debt Limit Deal

The agreement would cut at least $2.4 trillion from federal
spending over a decade but does not include tax increases
on wealthy Americans to reduce deficits, something the
president had wanted. The deal also raises the country's
debt limit by $2.1 trillion, to about $16.5 trillion, which
will allow borrowing through the end of 2012. The Treasury
Department has said that after Tuesday the U.S. government
won't have enough money to meet all of its financial
obligations if Congress doesn't raise the nation's debt
ceiling.

Under the agreement, a new joint committee of Congress would
recommend deficit reductions by the end of November. Those
would be put to a vote in Congress by year's end. The
committee's recommendations could include changes in tax laws
as a way to raise revenue.

The deal would increase the debt ceiling by $900 billion now,
in exchange for Washington-style cuts. It would also give
tremendous power to a 12-member committee that will pave the
way for tax hikes. Not only that, but if conservatives don’t
agree to the tax hikes, then a so-called trigger would
automatically cut our nation's security by $600 billion.

Note: The joint committee can only recommend - nothing is
binding. It can be ignored just like The National Commission
on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform (Bowles-Simpson).

Cut, Cap and Balanced is Only Choice

Our Representatives in the House are considering
amendments to the “Boehner plan.” The House has passed
the Cut, Cap & Balance Act. The fact that tyrants in
the Senate and the Chief Tyrant in the White House have
tabled the bill and threatened to veto it respectively,
does not force the House to come up with something
different.
The only thing which is acceptable to the
“Progressives” is to increase their ability to spend –
legally or illegally if necessary. Taxes have already
been raised 3.6% with a regressive inflation tax. The
profligate spending can be stopped in January of 2013,
but that may be too late.
Republicans hold a majority in the House of
Representatives. The House has two specific powers – to
appropriate funds and to impeach. Obama vowed to
“support and defend the Constitution against all enemies
foreign and domestic.” If he misuses the 14th Amendment,
then he should be impeached.

Spend Now; Save Later

The Speaker of the House of Representatives proposed a debt
ceiling plan that calls for just over $1 Trillion in deficit
reduction over the next 10 years in exchange for an immediate
increase in the debt ceiling. In other words, he is willing
to cave and give the President a debt ceiling increase in
exchange for a promise of cuts over the course of 10 years
that are not defined, that WILL NOT eliminate the deficit,
that WILL increase our national debt, and will still risk a
downgrade of our credit rating. We've heard it all before:
more current spending in exchange for future promises. The
American People are tired of broken promises.

House Debt Limit Bill

The emerging House bill would provide for an immediate
$1 trillion increase in the government's $14.3 Trillion
debt limit in exchange for $1.2 Trillion in cuts in
federal spending. The measure also envisions Congress
approving a second round of spending cuts of $1.8 Trillion
or more in 2012, passage of which would trigger an
additional $1.6 Trillion in increased borrowing authority.
This could be a trap since the Obama Administration may
determine the cuts. $1 Trillion would be from ending wars
in Afghanistan and Iraq - leaving only $200 Billion to be
cut in the first round. The cuts on the last continuing
resolution ended with a budget with less than 1% in cuts.

Newt on the Debt Limit

Raising the debt ceiling without passing real reform to
put America back on the path of fiscal responsibility will
forever burden our children and grandchildren with higher
taxes, bigger government, and less freedom.

What we are witnessing is, in fact, a power struggle between
the 80 percent of the American people who believe in a
citizen-centered government and the 20 percent who believe
in a Washington-centered government.

The president yesterday made it clear which side he is on
when he threatened to veto the Cut, Cap and Balance Act, a
courageous attempt by House Republicans to force Washington
to embrace fiscal responsibility.

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

No Debt Limit Increase is Acceptable!

While we are in support of cutting spending now, capping
the percentage of government spending as it relates to the
gross domestic product, and balancing the budget, we do not
support those items in exchange for a debt ceiling increase.
America cannot afford to continue to spend more money than
it brings in. America cannot afford to borrow 44 cents of
every dollar it spends.

Balanced Budget Amendment must be passed and ratified

Paul Revere TEA Party Mission

The mission and existence of the Paul Revere TEA Party
are to elect government officials who believe in core
Christian values and the following conservative values:

1. Pro-life - We support life from conception until God
takes us, and believe that government has no basis for
legalizing abortions or euthanasia.

2. Pro-marriage - We believe that marriage should be
between a man and a woman.

3. Less government - Our government has grown too large
with too many rules and regulations that impair small
business.

4. Strong military - We believe that the strength of our
country is determined by the strength of our military,
and that that strength should be maintained.

5. Lower taxes - We believe that our government should be
fiscally responsible and not wasteful. We support a
Balanced Budget Amendment. We also believe that
consideration should be given to the Fair Tax.

6. Energy independence - We have vast resources of coal,
oil, natural gas and other sources of energy. We should
tap those resources and not rely on the Middle East for
our energy sources.

7. Immigration - We believe that our borders should be
secured, and that illegal aliens should not be extended
the same benefits given to a United States citizen.

8. Term limits - We believe that term limits should be set
for Congressmen and Senators.
